Smooth commutation of brushless DC motor by model‐free predictive current control without back‐EMF estimation

Abstract This study presents a new predictive control approach for brushless DC (BLDC) motor to smooth its commutation process. The proposed method is applied the BLDC motor's equivalent current. Therefore, this utilises only one prediction equation, which means less calculation than standard schemes. Here, current equation defined according model‐free theory remove back‐EMF voltage estimation from system. In consequence, (DC‐PCC) has commutation. Because of applying theory, both and non‐commutation periods have similar dynamic equations. Hence, simple can be utilised periods. Besides, computational burden due using removing To validate DC‐PCC, experimental tests are performed, results discussed in research.
